I have a class of 8th graders that has been extremely challenging this semester. I busted one student with pot last week, I have another student that I’m pretty sure has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and the list goes on and on. As a class they’re some of the most disrespectful kids I’ve ever met. The past couple of days the Lord had really been laying it on my heart to just pray for these kids. What if instead of getting frustrated with them I walked around the room while they were working and prayed for each one of them–that they would be filled with living water? Wow! What a difference that would make in their lives!

I love this story of the woman at the well. Not only does the woman reflect the sin and longing that I have had in my life, but I love the picture of compassion and mercy it gives us of Jesus……..
My life has been a testimony of Jesus’ endless pursuit a of a lost and broken woman like the Samaritian woman. I understand now that I was born with a hole in my soul that only God could fill, however, I used so many more things of the world to fill the hole. It began at a young age when I realized my world was out of control. I needed to find a way to escape. I found that escape at the age of 9 when I took my first drink of alcohol. By the time I was 18, I was an alcoholic and “experimenting” with any and all kinds of other mind altering drugs. For a few years this worked. However, the insanity came when it no longer quenched my thirst. Then it became this endless insane pursuit to find anything outside of myself to fill this void within me. The more I pursued the thirstier I became. I praise the day that Jesus came to give me a taste of His living water. In Him I have found fulfillment that I could not find in alcohol, drugs, money, or a marriage. He showed His mercy and love by pointing out those things that could not fulfill me and continues to teach me that He is my source. Praise Jesus for His living water!

Karissa!
Thanks for the post. Wow we can only imagine what would happen if we all would start to pray for the people we are frustrated with! I’m in. Come Lord Jesus.
Anne,
Thanks for sharing your story! God is so awesome and your story gives me faith to pray for others to receive that living water.
